What Is Your Butthole SUPPOSED To Smell Like?

gay bottom

Some people can’t tell.

Have you ever wondered what your butthole smells like? You know what I’m talking about – the odor your booty gives off to your playmates.

Sorry if I’m being too forward. But when you think about it, the question is perfectly natural.

You see, part of the reason I am putting this “out there” is because I recently learned about a phenomenon called odor fatigue. Seriously, apparently – such a thing exists!

Essentially, odor fatigue means that your nose can no longer tell if a smell is offensive or not. The reason? You’ve been exposed too long.

And that’s a real problem, particularly if you like being on the receiving end of butt play.

Not too long ago, I hooked up with someone who had an anus that smelled like rotten eggs – it was wretched!  In fact it was so foul, I had to end what I was doing “down there” because my nose was overwhelmed.

When he saw my facial expression, he put two and two together and realized the issue.

“I thought I cleaned up real good down there. I even did the finger test after I was done.”

In case you’re wondering, the finger test is when you take your index finger and circle it around the perimeter of your anus. You then sniff the digit to assess.

Not wanting to be a jerk, we ended up watching a video and then calling it a night. Why not get something out of it, right?

Afterwards, the incident got me to thinking about this whole butthole scent thing. Motivated to find answers, I decided to talk to a friend who happens to be a proctologist.

That’s where I learned about odor fatigue and the difficulty involved with smelling our own butts.

This led to a wider conversation about buttholes, which I have to say was fascinating!

Here are some other things he told me.

Every anus has its own unique “smell”, which is a combination of bacteria, diet, how well you clean out and yes – scent glands.

You heard me right – scent glands!

Just like dogs, humans have anal glands that secrete a distinct odor. The reasons for this dates back to our very beginnings, when mammals first appeared on the earth during the Cenozoic period.

Anyway …

Deep inside of your butt are glands, dotted along the walls of your anus. According to the science, the size and number of the glands can vary from person to person.

While the medical community isn’t sure why man still has these glands, there’s some research to suggest they become highly activated during periods of stress or anxiety. Kind of like a sweat gland – if that makes sense.

I also learned that all of our anuses may secrete pheromones, which are thought to be connected to sexual stimulation and arousal.

The proctologist said he really didn’t know what a butthole “should” smell like but he did inform me of things to be concerned about.

Specifically, he said that after proper cleaning, it shouldn’t stink like feces. It also should give off a rotten egg odor.

I did not know this but apparently, you can get a yeast infection in the crack of your buttocks – and other bacteria related problems. The doctor said that could have been what was going on with my trick.

And the doc made it a point to stress the following:

If your anus is itchy or if there is pain when going to the bathroom, something isn’t right. Make an appointment with a physician right away.

So what is your butthole supposed to smell like?

Well, the answer to that question remains elusive. That’s because of the variables I’ve mentioned above. I do know that when properly wiped and washed, the scent shouldn’t be overpowering.

So how guys get an accurate idea of how their butthole smells? Well, according to the doctor, the best way to do this is with something other than a finger – like a fragrance free product.

He said to simply blot the anal wall with the wipe and sniff several times.

Apparently, using a finger as a gauge is problematic because it may already smell like soap after cleaning. That makes sense, doesn’t it?

So there you have it. All anuses have their own unique scent. There isn’t a “right” way that your butt is supposed to smell. But it’s certainly not supposed to stink if you’ve cleaned properly.

Hope you found interesting!
