2018 Summer Movies!
If you are a fan of movies, you probably look forward to summer. That’s because, in the historical sense, it is during this season Hollywood puts out some of its best stuff.
Summer 2018 promises to be no different. Several films are slated for release that could very well be huge hits! After carefully reviewing what’s coming down the pike, we’re proud to share five movies we can’t wait to see.
Are you ready? Check it out.
1. Avengers: Affinity War (April 27)
Are you a fan of Chris Evans? How about Chris Hemsworth? We certainly are. So much so that we created a ridiculous fantasy post that explored the possibility of Thor and Captain America hooking up (see our inappropriate post).
FYI: Word has it that this will be one of the last Avenger movies Chris Evans will appear in. Don’t worry, he’ll be in one next year. We’re just saying his time as Steve Rogers appears to be coming to a close. We’re already missing his butt!
And yes, we realize April isn’t a “summer” month but in the world of film, it is.
2. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (July 22)
When Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt came out in 2015, we watched the film with eager anticipation. And to our surprise, we really dug it (See our review).
In Kingdom, word has it half of the movie follows traditional scripts where you have dinosaurs running through the forests. But then halfway through the flick, the entire lo and feel of the movie changes because the “Jurassic World” gets destroyed.
Apparently, a darker, more Gothic vibe becomes part of the dynamic where characters are trapped indoors. Now we fully admit we got this bit of dirt from Entertainment Weekly – just to be transparent.
The movie sounds like it will rock. How could it not with the ridiculously handsome Chris Pratt?
3. SOLO: A Star Wars Story (May 25)
Are you a Star Wars fan? Fan of Chewbacca? How about Hans Solo? Well, you will likely dig the film coming out this May that promises to give background about their unique and mysterious relationship.
Solo will be played by Alden Ehrenreich and “Chewie” by Joonas Suotamo.
Now come on, how could you not want to see this movie? At the very least, it helps to contextualize some of the characters and give meaning to how we experience Solo and Chewie the here and now.
Maybe that’s why we wrote a post in 2015 that imagined Darth Vader bottoming for Chewbacca!
4. Overboard (May 4)
Yes, they have remade this 1980’s family comedy gone wrong. The description from IMDb reads: “A spoiled, wealthy yacht owner is thrown overboard and becomes the target of revenge from his mistreated employee.”
OK, so it isn’t that much different than the 1987 version. Still, it could be fun to check out.
You can check out the cast here and decide for yourself. We kind of like silly and campy so we’re going to invest the money in tix.
5. Deadpool 2 (May 18)
If you were a fan of the first Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds, there is a good chance you’ll want to see Deadpool 2 that comes out on May 18 (see our original review here).
We’ve seen the previews and read about the plot. Cable, apparently, arrives from the future and attempts to capture a teenager with some type of special abilities. This sets up the conflict in which Deadpool must save the day.
Now let’s face it – Ryan Reynolds is just freaking hot, no matter what movie he appears in. But given the success of the last film (it grossed $783.00 worldwide), it just makes sense this movie could be totally worth shelling out the dough to see at the theater. We hope and pray we get to see Ryan running around in a pair of grey sweats!
Obviously, there are tons of other movies coming out this summer. We just touched on the biggies because they happen to have caught our eye.
