Does Watching Bareback Vids Make You Want To Ride Raw?

Does watching bareback increase your likelihood of doing it raw?

The other day, I was chatting with my friend Steve about various people in the adult film industry. It was an innocent conversation to be sure – run of the mill topics like, “Who your favorite entertainer?” and “What kind of scenes get your wood on?”

Ever have these kinds of discussions?

At any rate, the conversation drifted towards going bareback. I don’t know why it did but it just happened. One of the things Steve brought up was how – when watching vids with a f-bud – he is more likely to do it raw.

Intrigued, I wanted to know more. In his case, he said that when he’s watching content (with a guest) and there is a group bareback scene, “It just happens. There’s no discussion or negotiation. One of us just goes in that direction.”

As I reflected on what he shared, it occurred to me that I had engaged in similar behaviors – a lot. As time passed, I remembered a survey that was conducted a few years ago on this topic.

Long story short, the study, which was published in PLOS One, gathered information from 265 gay and bi men who resided in 50 miles of New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore or Washington DC.

The goal of the research was simple – to assess the relationship, if any, between condomless sex and adult content.

Almost all the guys who participated, around 92%, said they had watched anal bareback sex. Moroever, 48% of the participants revealed doing so had contributed to their raw activities.

And here is the interesting part: 70% of those viewing the content said that it had led to their acting out what they saw on their screens.

That’s kind of a lot when you think about it.

Another interesting observation was that when the actors in the adult film were wearing rubbers, the participant was more likely to do the same.

Thinking back, I can’t say this was the case for me. I mean yes, I did BB because what I saw turned me on but I didn’t try to act out whatever scene was going on (Maybe I should because that sounds kind of hot!)

But you know – the research on going bareback is all over the place. It wasn’t that long ago that a study came out suggesting gay men are going raw less. Speaking only for myself, I have to say that I like BB.

So, I am curious to know. When you are hooking up with someone and watching vids, are you influenced by what you see on the screen?

Do you ride an unwrapped pony because that’s what the actors are doing? Conversely, if they have a rubber on, do you put one on too?
