Europe’s Most Gay-Friendly Beach Cities, Resorts & Parties
With Pride parties in full swing all over the world, summer is the best time for gay travel. While we encourage you to travel anywhere you want, we think the perfect destinations are cities where you will feel welcome, safe, and have the most fun. Here is some gay beach vacation inspiration!
These are cities and islands with popular gay beaches around the world.
Barcelona is a very popular gay tourist city. It has the famous Segrada Familia church by Gaudi, the other Gaudi buildings and the spectacular Park Guell with beautiful views on the city.
The gay night-life is extensive, but mostly taking place in the weekends. The bars and clubs start late, as the locals have their dinner only around 10 or 11 PM. There is also a gay beach in Barcelona itself.
The famous and popular town Sitges is only 40 minutes away by train. It has several gay beaches and a busy gay nightlife as well.
The gay beaches of Sitges are called Playa de la Bassa Rodona, Playa de las Balmins and Playa del Muerto. Playa de la Bassa Rodona is the main gay beach of Sitges. Right across from the famous Hotel “Calipolis”, the beach is easily spotted for the speedos and tanned masculine bodies.

The Greek island of Mykonos is considered as one of the ‘big four’ European LGBT summer destinations, and for decades, it has been a mecca for those who seek relaxing hotels, beaches and thriving gay nightlife.
Your dream gay summer holidays could not be perfect without spending your days lying on a sandy beach, sunbathing and swimming in crystal clear sea waters. And of course, a beach is always better with handsome gay men lying around you, enjoying the hot Greek sun in their swimsuits — or out of them.
Elia Beach is the most popular gay beach of Mykonos. Preserving the tradition, the right half of the beach gathers mostly gay men, while the beach ends on a rocky hill; a gay cruising spot all around the day. You will meet sexy men lying on Elia any time of the day, while there is also a nice beach bar, though it is located on the other side of the beach.
Jackie O’ Beach is definitely one of the best gay beach bars in the world, having as its strongest competitive advantage the crystal clear waters of Super Paradise beach. Jackie O’ offers everything you might need, from refreshing cocktails to light snacks and lunch menu, while the view from the pool is simply amazing!

Lisbon is one of the biggest European beach destinations. Though August is the favourite month for traveling, in Lisbon it’s the quietest month. Most locals go on vacation, mainly heading to the Algarve, leaving the city for those visiting it. In August, head to the beaches near Lisbon or take a trip to the refreshing hills in Sintra to explore some of its fairytale gardens and palaces.
Beach 19 is a very large gay nude beach which is part of a Nature Reserve. It is the “gay-section” of a very extensive stretch of sand known as Costa da Caparica. It’s officially a nude beach (by law) but you can opt between being naked or keeping your swim-suit. Beach 19 is the perfect spot for sun-bathing; swimming; cruising and making new friends.
