James Franco’s gay murder thriller with “unapologetic” gay sex scenes out this fall
James Franco has made a movie about the gay porn industry. King Cobra, will premiere at the London Film Festival and include celebs like Christian Slater, Molly Ringwald and Alicia Silverstone.
Director Justin Kelly has already shared in interviews that the gay sex scenes in this film are designed to be unapologetic.
What’s King Cobra about?
This film tells the true and grizzly tale of the Cobra Film porn producer, Bryan Kocis [played by Christian Slater] who was found brutally stabbed to death (28 times!) in his Pennsylvania home back in 2007.
To get rid of the evidence, his murders burned his place down – with him in it. When they found Kocis’s body, it it was so badly charred that authorities needed to use dental records to identify his remains.
After investigators pieced together the events leading to his death, two male escorts, Harlow Cuadra [played by Keegan Allen] and Joseph Kerekes [played by James Franco] were charged and convicted.
Both were given life sentences without the chance of parole.
King Cobra’s Main Plot
The main plot reveals the murderous lengths some cut-throat porn outfits will go through to steal talent and put other film makers out of business.
As part of the storyline, King Cobra also divulges that the murder victim, Kocis, was sexually involved with an underage male named Sean Paul Lockhart [played by Disney stud, Garrett Clayton].
FYI: As you may (or may not) know, Sean Lockhart’s real life identify is Brent Corrigan, the popular gay porn star and director.
It’s important to note that the Mr. Corrigan has spoken out against the way Hollywood has portrayed his life.
In an online interview with an adult site, he shared that producers “were insensitive right out of the gate in our interactions with them. They wanted me to come on board without even considering what dredging all that up was really asking of me.”
We’ve placed a NSFW link to Corrigan’s entire interview at the bottom of this post so that you can read it for yourself.
And he’s not the only “real life” person this film is connected to that has an opinion.
Joseph Kerekes, one of the killer escorts previously mentioned, gave a prison interview to News Channel 3 and expressed his thoughts.
“Even the movie with James Franco got it wrong,” said Mr. Kerekes. “We did not do any of this because we were in debt. We did this because we wanted more, and we thought we could get away with it.”
IndieWire gave this film major props in its review at the Tribeca Film Festival review, stating:
“Possibly the best film ever made about the business end of America’s gay porn industry.”
James Franco and Gay Roles
This will not be the first time James Franco has appeared in a gay themed film.
He played the part of a gay poet (Allen Ginsberg) in the 2010 movie, Howl. He also played the part of male lover in the Oscar-Award winning movie, Milk.
There is no doubt this movie will add to buzz around the star’s sexuality. Whenever he’s asked about this topic, based on provocative statements, personal behaviors and film roles, he refuses to give a concrete answer.
Does he do these kinds of things to get people talking? That’s up to you to decide.
What’s interesting to note is that the website, Whos Dated Who, shows James Franco’s current relationship status as being attached to one Mr. Kreegan Allen – the person who plays Harlow from the movie.
King Cobra is expected to be released in the United States on October 21.
