While not considered a health problem, dark circles and baggy eyes can certainly make you look tried and unattractive. If you are looking for some practical ways to deal with this problem, why not try one of these 10 tips?
1. Cold Cucumber Slices
Cucumbers are known to have great skin-tightening and skin-lightening qualities – that spa cliché isn’t just for show! Cut off a few fresh slices and chill them in the fridge for about half an hour. Once they’re nice and cold, place them onto your eyes for ten minutes, and rinse with water after removal.
You can also try a mix of lemon juice and cucumber juice in equal parts, gently applied with a cotton ball or Q-tip on the offending area – again, this can be rinsed off after around 10 minutes.
If you don’t want to bother cutting up cucumber, why not pick up some cucumber eye pads? Just store them in your refrigerator and use as needed.
2. Grated Raw Potato
Potatoes have natural bleaching agents which can lighten dark circles and reduce puffiness eye puffiness. Grate a cold potato to extract some juice, soak a cotton ball in it, and place it over your eyes (closed).
Chill out for 10-15 minutes, and rinse off with cool water. Similar to the cucumber, using whole chilled potato slices is another option.
3. Chilled Tomato Juice
Tomato, too, is an effective agent for lightening up your skin tone.
Mix 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with 1 teaspoon of chilled tomato juice: applied gently, and rinsed off after 10 minutes, tomato provides visible results in just a day or two.

7. Try An Apple
Apples are a great source of tannic acid, which is known to lighten skin tone. They also contain potassium and the water-soluble vitamins B and C, which provide the delicate skin around the eye with some much-needed nourishment.
Cut a ripe apple into thick pieces and place the slices directly over your closed eyes. Let them sit for half an hour, then rinse off with cool water and apply some under-eye cream.
If sitting perfectly still isn’t your cup of tea, some prefer to make a paste of boiled green apple and apply it in the same fashion – this gives you a bit more wiggle room without fretting about the wedges falling.
8. Mint Leaves
Mint leaves have a cooling effect that can get rid of dark circles quite naturally. Crush a few fresh mint leaves and apply the result to the affected area for several minutes. Use a cool clean cloth to wipe off afterwards.
If you want the best of two worlds, consider trying a paste of the mint leaves with some tomato juice.

The anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric make it a powerful tool in your skincare arsenal. Mixed with pineapple juice to make a thick paste, turmeric should be applied to the target area and wiped away after 10 minutes or so.
Not only will the turmeric mixture help to remove your dark circles, it will also make the skin around your eyes appear much softer than before.
10. Cold Water
Cold water constricts the blood vessels under the eyes, reducing puffiness and the prominence of dark circles. Soak a washcloth, or perhaps wrap it around an ice pack. There’s plenty of room to get creative here – a bag of frozen peas, a zip-lock baggy full of ice cubes, you name it.
This method may take a few applications per day before you start seeing results (making it less effective than the other remedies we’ve listed), but it’s hard to argue with the starting cost!
When you need to take care of dark circles fast, why look any further than your own kitchen? No pricey chemical treatments, no side effects – no problem.
