This year, the Warwick Rowers welcome a new calendar star, openly gay champ and hot AF hunk Robbie Manson.
There’s a strong chance you’re familiar with the Warwick Rowers and their annual caledar . And if not, we guarantee you’ll be all about them in just a moment. Started by LGBT activist, Angus Malcolm, and a group of mainly heterosexual male student athletes at an English university, the organization’s mission is to challenge homophobia and bullying in the sports world.
In the past 10 years, they’ve raised over $1 million in sales for the Warwick University Rowing Program and the Sports Allies Foundation – a registered charity devoted to promoting LGBT rights and gender equality through sport.

The cover of our #WR19 and 10th anniversary calendar. This is a huge landmark for us and we are so grateful for everyone who has supported us so far and keeps on supporting us in our campaign against heteronormativity and gender norms. We are halfway through our crowdfunding campaign and all our #WR19 products are already available to pre-order at discounted price. So if you want to be part of the story, make sure you have a look at our website (link in bio). Make sure to tag your friends if they haven’t heard yet about what we do!
This year, the rowers are particularly honored to welcome a special guest star to the calendar. Robbie Manson, a two-time Olympic athlete from New Zealand, holds the world record for men’s single sculling, officially making him the fastest rower on the planet. Manson was born in 1989. He is from a family of rowers, with his father Greg the singles lightweight national champion in 1985, and his brother Karl also competing internationally.
The sexual orientation of the rowers has almost never been discussed. So the fact that they would welcome a naked gay hunk to the photoshoots and calendar says a lot about the actual inclusion of the members of the club.

At the beginning of the year I joined the @warwick_rowers to guest star in their 2019 Calendar. As well as being a lot of fun there is a greater reason behind why these guys do what they do •Gender equality •LGBT inclusion •Male mental health I can relate closely with these issues which is why I have always wanted to get involved and support their campaign. It was an absolute honour to work together! Check out @warwick_rowers to support their crowd funding campaign and to pre-order the 2019 Calendar
The calendar was created by famous photographer Angus Malcolm.
Manson, who came out as gay in 2014 said “As an LGBT athlete, I value the straight ally message of the Warwick Rowers. They prove you don’t have to be a gay or female athlete to believe passionately that sport should be for everyone, and that sport can show leadership in promoting equality. So when the guys invited me to join them in their tenth-anniversary calendar, I got on a plane!”
