This and that
It’s Friday so now is a good a time as any to do a quick post that contains some quick headlines. The first one is about actor Taron Egerton and the second relates to keeping your pie hole shut at the gym.
Do these topics seem snooze-worthy? That’s okay, keep reading.
Did you hear the news? Taron Egerton (see our background piece on actor here) has signed on to play Elton John in Rocketman; a forthcoming biopic about the gay rock icon.
Variety is reporting that Dexter Fletcher, who replaced Bryan Singer on the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, is attached to direct.
Going by the Variety article, the movie: “will include John’s emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to becoming a music superstar and his partnership with songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin.”
Movie production is set to begin sometime this summer. The screenplay was written by Lee Hall (Victoria & Abdul, Warhorse). Matthew Vaughn and David Furnish (Elton’s husband) are producing.
Talking at the Gym
Do you talk to people at your gym? Make small talk with gym patrons? Ever think of your fitness facility as a social outlet? If so, you wouldn’t be alone. A lot of people chat it up on the gym floor.
But apparently, this is now considered taboo – at least according to the folks over at Men’s Health. Yep, you shouldn’t be talking at all unless there is utility behind your comments.
According to their article, here is an example of acceptable communication when doing cardio or pumping iron:
“Hey man, you using that? All good. When Trump comes on the TV, “Can you believe this fucking guy?” might be what everyone else there is thinking too, but it’s best to keep politics out of the gym, Plato.”
All we can say is – oh, brother.
